  • Most brides begin their search about 9-12 months ahead of their wedding date, with most making a purchase 8-10 months in advance. This allows time for productions, alterations, and a little wiggle room for the unexpected.

On a shorter timeline? Don’t hesitate to reach out — because we work directly with independent designers and small makers, there is abundant opportunity to work magic. (Looking at you, elopers!)

  • We maintain a selection of sample gowns size 8-24, however, we can order gowns for brides in every size. If you have a question or concern regarding sizing ahead of your appointment, please reach out!

  • If you have your heart set on trying on a specific item from a specific designer, please let us know a few weeks before your appointment! If we don’t carry that specific garment, we can often coordinate a loaner just for you!

  • A trunk show is when we invite a designer to show an extended selection of their designs for a set time period — and there’s usually a discount available during the event. Subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to know about trunk shows and other events!

  • Once you find your dream look, you’ll want it to fit you like a glove. We’ll take your measurements and order the item that most closely fits your body — however, most garments will require some alteration to achieve the perfect fit. We’ll talk through this process at your appointment! And while we don’t offer alterations in-studio, we do have tried-and-true recommendations for quality local tailors.

  • Yes! Because we work exclusively with independent designers who create each garment to order, customizations are very easy.

  • We are excited for the opportunity to provide you with an individually curated shopping experience. Kinfolk Bride requires a $35 non-refundable booking fee to secure a first time appointment.

In the case of a cancellation, please do so 48 hours ahead of the reserved time to ensure a refund of your booking fee. There are no booking fee refunds for cancellations within the 48 hour time frame, or for no-shows. Late cancellations and no-shows will result in an additional $25 fee.

Due to the independent and small nature of the designers we collaborate with, all purchases at Kinfolk are nonrefundable.

  • We care deeply about introducing our clients to diverse and sustainable designers — especially labels led by women — and making sure that every person getting married feels beautiful on their big day, regardless of personal style, body size, or gender expression.

When you select from Kinfolk’s carefully curated selection of designers, you’re supporting our sustainable practices. Weddings inherently generate a lot of waste, because so many of the items purchased are only used once. Kinfolk Bride has chosen designers that create each garment to order, offer tons of options for customization, utilize deadstock fabric, and recycle unused fabric (to places like Fab Scrap, also in Bok Building!) That way, we’re not contributing to the practice of mass producing stock that will hang in a warehouse indefinitely.

It’s important to me to cater to all brides, especially folks who don’t connect with a wedding look centered on the traditional bridal gown. Kinfolk offers lots of different garment options so that every person can enjoy that special experience of being styled at a bridal boutique, without being limited to styles that don’t speak to them.

On Kinfolk’s intake form, we ask for pronouns and favorite music, all in an effort to make sure that every client is comfortable from the moment they arrive. When you’re comfy, you’re confident — and that’s when we can get creative!Item description
